For this year’s National Fungus Day, we delved into the hidden world of mushrooms, revealing their complex inner structures. At OR3D CT, we’ve always been fascinated by what lies beneath the surface, and thanks to our advanced imaging tools, we’re able to uncover the secrets of even the most delicate organisms.
Using our RX Solutions EasyTom 230 CT scanner, we captured high-resolution images of a mushroom’s intricate interior, transforming it into a stunning 3D visualisation with the help of Volume Graphics software and Unreal Engine.

One of our CT services is wall thickness analysis. For instance, in our exploration of the mushroom’s gills, we were able to measure the varying thickness of each gill’s surface with incredible precision. The ability to capture this level of detail is just one way our technology turns the invisible into actionable insights, helping industries solve complex problems with ease.
At OR3D CT our wall thickness analysis service is a popular offering which allows the client to understand how the wall thickness in a sample varies across the volume. Furthermore, we can align the sample to a design intent model and analyse how much the wall thickness varies from its design. Using high resolution CT scanning also allows us to perform this type of analysis in areas which are obscured from line of sight as well as being able to perform the analysis in conjunction with Porosity analysis.
